The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution  is offering $500 grants to two K-12 classroom teachers in Montana. The deadline to apply electronically to  your school's nearest DAR Chapter is  April 1.  The teacher need not be a DAR member to apply, and preference will not be given to members.

Since this scholarship was made available in 2017, Montana recipients have included teachers at Great Falls Public Schools, Billings Public Schools, Wise River School, and Cascade School.  Past successful grant proposals have included a kindergarten reading program to purchase books the children take home to read with a parent, a 5th grade music program and transportation to a performance, and purchasing binoculars for a high school science birding program in cooperation with Cornell University.

Eligibility:   Any classroom teacher in a public or private K-12 school system, teaching a core subject or other group setting class.  Individual programs like speech or occupational therapy are not eligible at this time. The goal of the classroom grant program is to do the greatest good for the greatest number of students.  The teacher must hold a contract for the following school year and must have the application endorsed by a principal, headmaster, or superintendent to verify employment.

Founded in 1890 and active in Montana since 1894, the objects of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) are historic preservation, education, and patriotism. While the NSDAR gives over $1,000,000 each year to its own DAR Schools and DAR supported schools, it also supports schools in our local communities.

Please encourage your K-12 classroom teachers to participate in this opportunity.  Each of the ten Montana DAR Chapters will select one project application from its geographic area to forward to the Montana State Society DAR HPMF Classroom Grant committee.

Your applicants must complete the attached application, with required signatures, and  email it directly to the nearest  NSDAR Chapter listed below on or before April 1.

You may wish to share this opportunity on your School District web site, on Face Book groups, in your employee/staff newsletter, and to anyone who may have an interest in this grant opportunity.
